Virginia doctors win $3 million in hospital kickback case
Article Abstract:
Virginia Radiology Associates will receive $3 million in damages from Culpeper Memorial Hospital for breach of contract, following a ruling in Dec 1995, by a Norfolk, VA, appeals court. Also under the ruling, the radiologists involved will be allowed to individually sue the hospital for losing their contracts when they refused to pay for management services that they call a sham. The hospital had issued new objectionable terms into its contract, such as required payment for a radiology equipment fund and fees for outsourced billing and collection and practice management services.
