Idealism alive and well in U.S. medicine
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association (AMA), in conjunction with Burroughs Wellcome Co, honored the participants in the Leadership Program for Resident Physicians at the AMA 1992 annual meeting. The resident physicians in the program have all donated large amounts of their time and effort in community services, such as providing medical care for the homeless or educating youths in health issues. By their example, the program participants demonstrate that idealism and dedication to service are still prevalent values in the medical profession.
