Immune-based therapies: Clinical experience with immunomodulators and therapeutic immunization
Article Abstract:
The alternative immune-modulating strategies in combination with structured treatment interruptions were reviewed and pilot studies, with cyclic interruptions followed by treatment with an immune-modulating drug, were discussed. The end point of this study was the proportion of patients with a greater than half-log reduction in viral load after 12 weeks' interruption as compared with viral set point before starting any highly active antiretroviral therapy.

Safety and immunogenicity of a gag-pol candidate HIV-1 DNA vaccine administered by a needle-free device in HIV-1-seronegative subjects
Article Abstract:
The safety and immunogenicity of a candidate HIV DNA vaccine administered by using a needle-free device is evaluated. The results have shown that the HIV DNA vaccine is safe and well tolerated and it has led to the development of a 4-plasmid multiclade HIV DNA Vaccine Research Center vaccine candidate in which envelope genes expressing Env from clades A, B, and C and Nef gene from clade B is added.
