Deficiency in caspase-9 or caspase-3 induces compensatory caspase activation
Article Abstract:
This article discusses the development of caspase inhibitors for therapeutic purposes regarding the disregulation of apoptosis. The authors maintain that in the apoptotic cycle the caspases are potential therapeutic targets, and eliminating certain caspases activates others.

Immune-mediated eradication of tumors through the blockage of transforming growth factor-beta signaling in T cells
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the immunosuppressive cytokine's transforming growth factor-beta found at the tumor site. Results indicate that the T-cell-specific blockage of the transforming growth factor-beta signaling generates the immune response capable of eradicating tumors in challenged with the live tumor cells mice.

Toll-like receptors 3 mediates West Nile virus entry the brain causing lethal encephalitis
Article Abstract:
The involvement of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 3, which recognizes viral double-stranded (ds) RNA, on infection, is investigated. West Nile virus (WNV) infection leads to a Tlr3-dependent inflammatory response, which is involved in brain penetration of the virus and neuronal injury.
