Improvements in child pedestrian safety: have they been gained at the expense of other health goals?
Article Abstract:
There has been a significant decline in the number of accidents to child pedestrians in the UK. However, this trend may be the result of negative factors. There has been a fall in the number of miles cycled and walked by children, a development which could have negative health repercussions, while it has become much more common for parents to escort children, which limits children's independence and opportunities for learning. Children now have much less chance to explore their environment, and this has a negative impact on their sense of place.

Developing drug education in Gwynedd
Article Abstract:
The 1989 Gwynedd 'Lifestyle and Drugs Survey' has formed the basis for coordinated work on drug misuse in the UK. It aimed to look at the existing situation with drugs and to extend the effectiveness of drug education work, and looked in particular at the structure of drug education in schools and the training requirements of teachers. It has given valuable information, prompting further work on the subject in other parts of the UK.
