More than just skin deep
Article Abstract:
Skin damage caused by acne could be prevented if the skin complaint could be diagnosed early and an immediate course of treatment started. The change in hormone levels associated with puberty are a common trigger for acne, with areas on the back, face and chest most at risk of scarring. Washing in mild soap and water should be encouraged in mild cases, with hormonal therapy and ointment treatments being prescribed for more severe cases.

Seen and not heard
Article Abstract:
Health care staff should take a more sympathetic approach to dealing with people who have impaired hearing or are totally deaf. Clear speech and eye contact can help convey a message to a deaf person but it is important not to make them feel stupid or wrong. Hearing loss effects up to 8.7 million people in the UK, making it vitally important for health care professionals to reconsider their approach to communication.
