Indoor tanning has become a popular alternative to staying under the sun, with 28 million Americans estimated to visit a tanning salon in 1999 alone. Five of the biggest myths about indoor tanning are debunked, including the mistaken beliefs that tanning is safer than sunburn and that tanning beds are less dangerous than the sun.
