Integrating research into acute care settings: reflections of two nurse researchers
Article Abstract:
The experiences of two clinical nurse researchers (CNRs) involved in integrating nursing research programs in acute care hospital environments provide insights into the management and benefits of these programs. The development and maintenance of a nursing research program begins with the work of the chief nurse executive in creating the program. Implementing a research program is a slow process that requires patience and a cautious approach. The unique environment of each institution will affect the goals and success of the CNR.

Research-based practice
Article Abstract:
Research-based nursing practice requires an environment that facilitates the use of knowledge, systems that provide access to knowledge and clinicians who can evaluate current practice and consider the implementation of alternatives. Nursing administrators can promote research utilization and establish access to information resources. Practitioners must review and evaluate research literature to determine and enact practice changes.
