Interleukin-7 receptor expression on CD8(super.+) T cells is reduced in HIV infection and partially restored with effective antiretroviral therapy
Article Abstract:
Interleukin-7 (IL-7) receptor expression on CD8(super.+) T cells has been found to be lowered in HIV infection and partially restored with effective antiretroviral therapy (ART). IL-7 enhances CD8 T-cell proliferation and cytolytic activity. The expression of its receptor, CD127 (IL-7R alpha), may thus be important in HIV immunopathogenesis.

Nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor resistance among antiretroviral-naive HIV-positive pregnant women
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on resistance in antriretroviral-naive pregnant women in St. Louis, Missouri. The hypothesis that resistance testing in antiretroviral-naive HIV-positive pregnant women has identified resistant mutations which would modify the therapy choice has been verified, and the details are reported.

Survival benefit from non-highly active antiretroviral therapy in a resorce-constrained setting
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on mortality rates in HIV-1-infected patients in Thailand. This study has been carried out in investigating the effect of antiretroviral drug therapy o n mortality, and the results demonstrate that suboptimum antiretroviral drug regimens including dual therapy have survival benefit.
