The International Organization for Migration and the World Health Organization have worked to coordinate their emergency relief efforts since their first health care collaboration during the 1990 Gulf crisis. Another coordinated effort brought advanced medical care to refugees in Yugoslavia.

Health needs of migrants
Article Abstract:
Migrant workers are subjected to social stress that can lead to mental and physical health problems. The health status of immigrants is often lower than that of the general population. Some European countries are developing specific health policies for migrants.

Migrants face the health risks associated with lack of access to health education and care. They are likely to be treated unfairly in cases of AIDS or HIV. The best AIDS prevention programs for migrants are community based and egalitarian.
