Intramuscular interferon beta-1a therapy initiated during a first demyelinating event in multiple sclerosis
Article Abstract:
Interferon beta-1a treatment at the time of a first demyelinating event seems to lower the risk of multiple sclerosis development, according to a study of 383 patients with prior subclinical demyelination and brain lesions. Patients showed reduction in the volume, number, and size of brain lesions.

A randomized, placebo-controlled trial of natalizumab for relapsing multiple sclerosis
Article Abstract:
The results of a study of two-year phase 3 trial of natalizumab, which is the first alpha(sub 4) integrin antagonist in a new class of selective adhesion-molecule inhibitors, in patients with relapsing multiple sclerosis is illustrated. It is concluded that natalizumab reduced risk of the sustained progression of disability and the rate of clinical relapse in patients with relapsing multiple sclerosis.

Natalizumab plus interferon beta-1a for relapsing multiple sclerosis
Article Abstract:
A study aims to show that interferon beta is used to modify the course of relapsing multiple sclerosis and natalizumab, an alpha(sub 4) integrin antagonist is safe and effective alone and when added to interferon beta-1a in preliminary studies. Results reveal that natalizumab added to interferon beta-1a is significantly more effective than interferon beta-1a alone in patients with relapsing multiple sclerosis.
