Intrapartum transmission after mucosal exposure to HIV was not observed with single-dose nevirapine for mother and child
Article Abstract:
The frequency of intrapartum transmission after exposure to HIV after administration of single-dose nevirapine is analyzed. The results have shown that intrapartum HIV infection is not seen after mucosal exposure to HIV-1 after administration of a single dose of nevirapine to the mother and child.

Transmission rates in consecutive pregnancies exposed to single-dose nevirapine in Soweto, South Africa and Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire
Article Abstract:
The effectiveness of single-dose nevirapine (sdNVP) in preventing peripatrum MTCT in successive pregnancies is analyzed as sdNVP selects resistance in a high percentage of women. It is suggested that the effectiveness of sdNVP when used in successive pregnancies is probably not impaired.
