Irritable bowel syndrome: gaining control of your symptions
Article Abstract:
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic gastrointestinal disorder which is also called "spastic colon." Symptoms, which are partly caused by spasms in the walls of the intestines, vary between cramping and diarrhea, constipation, bloating and gas. There is no known cure for IBS. Treatment involves dietary changes to eliminate fatty foods and gas-producing foods, stress management, antidiarrheal and antispasmodic medications, antidepressants and other therapies.
