Joseph Murray, MD-Transplantation Pioneer
Article Abstract:
Joseph Murray, MD, was one of the surgeons who headed the first successful human kidney transplant without the problem of immune rejection in the 1940s at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston meeting the challenges of human organ transplantation. Brigham-based Ronald Herrick was the one who donated his kidney to his identical twin brother, Richard Herrick, who was having renal failure.

Tight blood glucose control pays off in reduced cardiovascular risk in diabetes

The Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC) has reported that tight blood glucose control can enable people with type 1 diabetes to halve their risk of heart attack and stroke. The ongoing studies are evaluating the adverse affects and intensive blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
