Is nursing anti-social?
Article Abstract:
Nursing education in the UK has for many years emphasised the concept of individualised patient care. However, this approach can mean that nurses fail to take into account the social factors which may have an impact on some parts of the community, and this may in turn have a negative effect on public health. Nurses now tend to focus too heavily on caring for individuals, and do not see people as part of a larger population where there may be public health issues to be addressed.

Can nurse managers supervise?
Article Abstract:
A greater understanding of clinical supervision is an invaluable skill for nurse managers, although it is important to ensure no conflict of interests between supervision and management of a unit. Objectivity, confidentiality and distribution of knowledge must all be dealt with in a sensitive and professional manner, although this can be difficult if the nursing unit is small.
