Know how: Guide to eczema/dermatitis
Article Abstract:
The term eczema covers a group of skin complaints where the skin becomes inflamed, and can be used synonymously with the term dermatitis. Eczema can be either chronic or acute, or a combination of the two. The complaints covered by the term eczema include atopic eczema, seborrhoeic eczema, contract allergic dermatitis and contact irritant dermatitis. The treatment of eczema depends on whether it is chronic or acute, and can include antibiotics, antiseptics, water-based cream formulations and oil-based ointment formulations.
