Living with renal failure
Article Abstract:
Four patients describe their experience of renal failure. They describe how they first discovered the diagnosis of their condition, and they recount their experience of dialysis. One patient finds attendance at the dialysis unit very time-consuming and talks of feeling tired after the treatment. A patient who performs her own dialysis at home is more positive, but all patients are grateful for the life it gives them. All four patients report very positive relationships with the renal care nurses. The patients also describe the impact of the illness and the dialysis on their families.
