Longitudinal weight changes over four years and other associated health factors in 629 men and women aged over 65
Article Abstract:
A randomised age-stratified survey to evaluate longitudinal changes in the body weight of men and women aged over 65 years reveals large intra-individual variations in the correlation of aging and body weight loss. No association was found between mortality or morbidity and body weight over a four-year period in a representative sample of old people. The longitudinal weight change is in conformity with the cross-sectional data prediction, with the average four-year change being a small loss. There were no associations found between weight change and physical health measures.
