Peginterferon alfa-2b and ribaviran for 12 vs. 24 weeks in HCV genotype 2 or 3
Article Abstract:
A randomized trial in patients with HCV genotype 2 or 3 comparing the standard 24-week regimen with a variable-duration regime is conducted. The findings indicate that a shorter course of therapy over 12 weeks with peginterferon alfa-2b and ribavirin is as effective as a 24-week course for patients with HCV genotype 2 or 3 who have a response to treatment at 4 weeks.

Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acids
Article Abstract:
The Gamma-Hydroxybutyric Acid (GHB) was synthesized in 1960 in an attempt to create an analogue of the ubiquitous inhibitory brain neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) that would cross the blood-brain barrier. The findings indicate that GHB is expected to have sedative properties similar to those that were reported for beta-butyrolactone in 1992.
