Magnetic field exposure and cardiovascular disease mortality among electric utility workers
Article Abstract:
There may be an association of occupational exposure to magnetic fields with arrhythmia-related heart disease. Mortality from cardiovascular disease has been studied relative to occupational magnetic field exposure among 138,903 electric utility workers, all male, 1950-88. Exposure was classified based on duration of work where magnetic field exposure was elevated and indices of cumulative magnetic field exposure. More time in jobs with more exposure was associated with greater risk of death from conditions related to arrhythmia and acute myocardial infarction. Indices of magnetic field exposure were related consistently to mortality from acute myocardial infarction and arrhythmia. No risk gradients were seen for atherosclerosis or chronic coronary heart disease.

Power-frequency electric and magnetic fields and risk of childhood leukemia in Canada
Article Abstract:
An examination into power-frequency electric and magnetic field exposure and the development of leukemia in children showed no relationship between them. The study examined 399 children in five Canadian provinces who were diagnosed with leukemia between the ages of 0-14 and 399 controls. There were no clear associations within 2 years of the diagnoses.

Eosinophilia and positive skin tests predict cardiovascular mortality in a general populaton sample followed for 30 years
Article Abstract:
Cardiovascular mortality is somewhat linked to eosinophilia and other allergy markers. These findings were not limited to people with asthma.
