Maternal N-acetylcysteine suppresses fetal inflammatory cytokine responses to maternal lipopolysaccharide
Article Abstract:
The effects of N-acetylcysteine, an antioxidant, are determined on cytokine induction in maternal and fetal serum in response to maternal lipopolysaccharide administration. Maternal N-acetylcysteine inhibits maternal lipopolysaccharide-induced fetal inflammatory cytokine responses even when given two hours after the lipopolysaccharide injection, suggesting that it might be useful in the treatment of pregnant women with infection/inflammation processes that might harm the fetus.

Programmed syndrome of hypernatremic hypertension in ovine twin lambs
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine the impact of ovine twin gestation and twin nursing on the cardiovascular and renal function of the offspring. The results indicate that ovine twin gestation and nursing markedly reduced body weight at 21 days of age, with evidence of plasma hypernatremia, hypertension, and reduced glomerular filtration rates, which persisted throughout hypotonic saline solution infusion.
