Maternal vasculopathy and histologic diagnosis of preeclampsia: Poor correlation of histologic changes and clinical manifestation
Article Abstract:
The frequency of maternal vasculopathy is evaluated and the usefulness of placental examination in correlation with clinical manifestationof pregnancy- induced hypertension is determined. The characteristics of maternal vascular changes demonstrate that pregnancy induced hypertension are found in approximately 1 of 5 pregnancy- induced hypertension placentas.

Preclinical profiles of progestins used in formulations of oral contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy

The physiological effect of progestins used in oral contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy are reviewed. Progestins are chemicals the mimic the action of progesterone. They are used in hormone replacement therapy to counteract the adverse effects of estrogen.

Effects of progestins and relaxin on glycodelin gene expression in human endometrial cells
Article Abstract:
Progesterone stimulates the production of glycodelin, which prepares the endometrium for the implantation of the fertilized egg. Gycodelin may also protect the developing fetus from the mother's immune system.
