Measure the economic burden of workplace injuries
Article Abstract:
The 2004 edition of Injury Facts issued by the National Safety Council shows that motor vehicle injuries topped the list of cause of injury accidents, followed by falls/slips and strains, while average cost per claim was higher at $ 15,858 for 2001-2002. Amputations accounted for the highest dollar claims, with claims for fractures, trauma and carpal tunnel syndrome close behind. Preventing injuries with proper safety measures could help employers save significant sums through lower insurance premiums.
