Medical researchers open eyes to tiny laboratories on a chip

The technology that shrinks laboratory procedures to the size of microchips are being used by medical researchers and clinicians in biomedical research, from counting HIV-infected cells to infiltrating harmful fats from the blood. Miniature machines that could be used for culturing cells, counting the disease-fighting CD4(super +) cells that are destroyed by HIV and filter dangerous fats from the blood are described.
