Readiness of local public health agencies to respond to bioterrorism questioned
Article Abstract:
Researchers' findings suggested that many public health agencies would not respond quickly to an infectious disease outbreak that might occur from natural causes or bioterrorism. Researchers tested how quickly local public health agencies in 18 states responded to queries regarding potential infectious disease outbreaks and found substantial variability in performance and in the systems in place.

Drug therapy for prehypertension questioned
Article Abstract:
Researchers are questioning the benefit of drug treatment for patients with prehypertension to reduce the risk of its progress to hypertension, since there is no evidence available that the treatment reduces cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Lifestyle modifications such as weight loss, exercise and sodium restriction are recommended to delay the onset of hypertension.
