Methodological issues in surveys pf physical activity: the case of the Trent Health Lifestyle Survey
Article Abstract:
Researchers compared the results and methodology of three UK surveys of physical activity levels to show how the use of differing methodologies produces contrasting results. The contrasts in these survey results were due to the use of different communication techniques, and to asking different questions.The need to promote physical activity in Britain is so great that governments and health organizations should develop survey tools which will give consistent results. Differing survey criteria and activity level guidelines are discussed.

A survey of consumer awareness of salt in food and reported purchasing activity towards low salt foods
Article Abstract:
Some 83.8% of 160 adults surveyed in Nottingham, UK, thought salt was bad for health. Some 85% of those surveyed had bought low salt food products, with 64.6% frequent users of these products. The knowledge of salt content in various foods was generally low among respondents. There is wide potential for product development of low salt foods if problems of food safety and taste are solved. The survey was subdivided into the over-25s and under 25s and comprised both sexes.

Health at work: a survey of attitudes, activities and needs of businesses in inner Birmingham
Article Abstract:
Many companies are keen to become involved in occupational health programmes in theory, but few actually put such programmes into practice, according to a survey of health promotion activity by small and medium-sized concerns in the inner city area of Birmingham, England. However, policies on smoking and alcohol are becoming more common. The next step must be to assess what employees themselves want and deal with their fears and concerns.
