Statistics show that an increasing number of childbearing-age women are using drugs, mostly amphetamines, crack and heroin. Maternity services have been slow in responding to this trend with appropriate care and services. The article details the trend and the ways maternity services can respond.

'I feel like I'm grieving for a second child.'
Article Abstract:
The experiences of a mother who found out that the organs of her son, who died from sudden infant death syndrome in 1994, were retained following post-mortem examination are presented. She indicates that she feels that she cannot stop grieving until his body is complete again.

Issues are presented concerning the growing threat to nurses from bullying by other nurses. The bullying occurring in midwifery departments and the fear of nurses of speaking up in case of recrimination are discussed.
