Leading beyond traditional boundaries: a community nursing perspective
Article Abstract:
Community nursing is a perspective to practice from, not a place for practice, with building self-care capacity a priority. Risk stratification is important. In care management, people can be grouped with those with similar needs and offered programs and services to meet collective needs. Interdisciplinary contributions are better added one at a time. According to Cathy Michaels, MN, PhD, and director of community outreach, Community Nursing, Carondelet Health Network Tucson, AZ, her pratice and leadership depend on relationship and consciousness of being and she feels like an artist.

Nurse leaders: roles driving organizational transition
Article Abstract:
Nurses can be leaders in transition in health care. Nurse leaders can combine knowledge of the art of nursing with knowledge of the customer and of the chaos that exists in health care. They can pioneer new strategies in roles that are flexible and either focused or broad, still keeping the perspective of caring values. Team experience is diverse, often disconnected from operations and with barriers that are not well defined. Methodologies add structure and bring forth active participation to achieve results quickly. Nurses are prepared to lead and to use such methodologies.
