Negative mood changes during hormone replacement therapy: a comparison between two progestogens
Article Abstract:
Medroxyprogesterone appears to produce fewer negative mood changes than norethindrone when used in combination with estrogen for hormone therapy, according to a study of 51 postmenopausal women. Both drugs mimic the action of progesterone, which is given to protect the woman from the adverse effects of estrogen.

Prevalence of psychiatric disorders in gynecologic outpatients
Article Abstract:
One-third of all women may have some psychological disorder, according to a study of 897 women attending an outpatient gynecology clinic in Sweden. Thirty percent had a psychological disorder. Mood disorders were most common, followed by anxiety and depression. Eighty percent of the women were not being treated for the condition.

Patients with psychiatric disorders in gynecologic practice
Article Abstract:
Women who are depressed or anxious often have physical symptoms such as abdominal pain, other illnesses, or frequent visits to a doctor. Gynecologists should be aware of this connection so they can refer their patients for psychiatric care.
