Neutrophils are stimulated by syncytiotrophoblast microvillous membranes to generate superoxide radicals in women with preeclampsia
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine whether syncytiotrophoblast microvilllous membranes (STBMs) stimulate maternal neutrophils to produce superoxide radicals in women with preeclampsia. It was concluded that STBMs in maternal blood induce neutrophils to generate superoxide radicals that may cause endothelial dysfunction in women with preeclampsia.

Elevated plasma endothelial microparticles: Preeclampsia versus gestational hypertension
Article Abstract:
Elevated plasma endothelial microparticle (EMP) levels were found to be elevated in women with preeclampsia than in women with gestational hypertension and control subjects. Determination of correlation between EMP levels and birth weight could provide a method to predict neonatal outcome.
