New diabetes drugs target gut hormones
Article Abstract:
Diabetes drugs that mimic gut hormones might help patients with the disease boost or help restore the normal hormonal activity that occurs in the gut after a meal, not often adequately controlled by conventional treatments. Two therapies, exenatide and pramlintide were approved in 2005 by the US Food and Drug Administration considering that better understanding of the way body responds to meals offers useful additions to existing therapies.
