New mind/body tactics target medically unexplained physical symptoms and fears
Article Abstract:
A 2005 study revealed that patients with somatization that is high levels of medically unexplained symptoms has substantially higher utilization of outpatient and inpatient medical care compared with nonsomatizing patients including those with coexisting medical and psychiatric conditions. The growing integration of psychiatry with primary care provides new strategies for helping these individuals.

Programs target youth violence prevention
Article Abstract:
Several programs created to prevent youth violence were described at the 2003 annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association. Philadelphia, PA, has a Youth Violence Reduction Project and Chicago public schools have a Cradle to Classroom program. The American Academy of Pediatrics is also developing a violence prevention program that pediatricians can adopt.
