The merger of Mullikin Medical Enterprises and MedPartners Inc will create a physician practice management company, named MedPartners/Mullikin Inc, that is positioned for expansion. Mullikin Medical, which focused its expertise on the West Coast, offers strong abilities in compensation, clinical and governance services. MedPartners Inc, which is based in Alabama, will provide the new organization with the necessary capital for growth. MedPartners/Mullikin will be headed by Larry House, who will become chairman, president and CEO of the company.

General PO provides menu of services to members

Article Abstract:

Physicians can survive better in 1996 with the use of physician services groups, such as the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (PO). This particular organization provides basic services for about 950 members, including 200 independent employees or practitioners of the Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston, MA. Services offered by the PO include billing, medical management and human resources. Information systems services are the newest addition to the menu, and may be the most valuable, according to some physicians.

Bosnia call-up taps physicians in reserves

Article Abstract:

Doctors in the military reserves who interrupted their practice to serve in Operation Desert Storm may be reluctant to return to active duty. Reservists are being sent to Europe, for 270-day tours, to replace regular Army and Air Force physicians who accompanied the troops on the peacekeeping mission. The physicians may also perform preventive and supply services for the medical units in Bosnia.
