'Nice' nurse managers are no good
Article Abstract:
A study of two groups having six high-performing nurse managers and equal number of poor performers was undertaken to find out the importance of a good ward manager in the NHS. Results showed that these managers had 45% improvement in performance over their low performing peers, however they also indicated that 'nice' managers fared the worst since they were too reliant on their management style and hence should follow the approach of more successful nurses that handle crisis efficiently and straightaway.
