Article Abstract:
Researcher continue to debate whether human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) or Chlamydia pneumoniae are involved in initiating multiple sclerosis. Supporters remain convinced, but opponents often cannot reproduce their findings. An infectious cause for MS has been proposed for most of the 20th century, but most organisms are eventually ruled out.

HIV Vaccine Efforts Inch Forward
Article Abstract:
Research on an AIDS vaccine was discussed at the AIDS Vaccine 2001 conference in Philadelphia in September, 2001. The National Institutes of Health is funding research on two dozen vaccines, but the private sector may be developing more. Still, after 15 years of research, only one vaccine is clinically available.

Merits of embryo screening debated
Article Abstract:
The preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a procedure, which screens embryos created in virto for genetic defects and other characteristics. While few oppose PGD to improve the health of children, other uses draw much less support.
