Nurse teachers' dilemma on how to manage their split role
Article Abstract:
Nurse teachers are changing their role to become lecturers which has implications for the amount of time spent on clinical practice. A study looking at the work of nurse teachers found some 82.7% of participants felt nurse teachers should spend more time undertaking clinical practice. Yet a second study found nurse teachers only undertook on average around 3-4 hours of clinical work. The English National Board called for nurse teachers to have time for clinical practice within their working day. Yet some 94% of lecturers felt it was very important to undertake and publish research.
