Nurses face a lottery over choice of shifts

A report on ward staffing by the Healthcare Commission revealed the geographical extremes of shift working patterns in a 24-hour health care service. London hospitals favor internal rotation schemes more than hospitals in other regions with just five percent of nurses working nights only and 13 percent days only.
