Nurses get the confidence trick
Article Abstract:
The importance of caring must not be overshadowed by a rise in nurse self-assurance which is taking hold in the UK National Health Service. Nurses must maintain their strong sense of patient committment which underpins their whole ethos of work. The continued undermining of the nursing profession by low pay and poor working conditions has appeared to increase nurses desire to provide a full and professional caring service of their patients, who remain the focus of medical care.

Article Abstract:
Nursing is a highly stressful profession, with 25% of NHS staff admitting to significant levels of psychological disturbance, against just 18% of the wider national workforce. To this end, the United Bristol Healthcare NHS Trust ins developing courses to help its employees cope with stress. Subjects include relaxation skills, meditation and cognitive strategies.
