Nurses join African poverty protest rally

UK nurses would champion the role of health workers in poor nations during the Make Poverty History rally in Edinburgh, an event seen as a major opportunity to call on the leaders of the richest nations in world to work to halve poverty by 2015. Nursing unions are among the 350 unions, aid agencies and campaigning and faith organizations making up the Make Poverty History coalition.

Weathering the storm: Beverly Malone's tenure at the RCN has been dogged by criticism

There seem to be only a few detractors who do not want Beverly Malone to be the head of the Royal College of Nursing, the labor organization for British nurses, but they are loud and are able to get press coverage. Some oppose her because she is American and black, others question some of the expenses she has incurred.

What does your union do for you?
Article Abstract:
The study shows that though a union membership is supposed to be a professional necessity giving the workers a legal protection, most nurses are dissatisfied with the services provided to them. Some of the concerns raised by the nurses against the quality of union representation are discussed in brief.
