Article Abstract:
Speedier discharges of patients from hospitals call for a little bit of initiative on the part of nurses, a constructive challenge to the junior doctor, or a prompt to seek senior medical advice. Nurses need to be empowered to foster the extra bit of assertiveness that would allow discharge suggestions to be put forward with self-assurance and confidence.
