Article Abstract:
A 31-year-old nurse suffered a stroke and was admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU). As a nurse working on an ICU she was familiar with the treatment, but did not find it any easier to accept. A second stroke removed her ability to speak and left her in a state of confusion. She suffered much frustration as she had to fit in with the ward's timetable, and began speech therapy and physiotherapy. Information on the progress of her recovery is included.
