Ministry of health: across the nation, religious institutions are pitching in to deliver the gospel on health promotion and disease prevention
Article Abstract:
Religious institutions are being viewed by the medical community as another way to educate the public on health issues. These institutions have traditionally been affiliated with hospitals, but now some are going further than that. Some are focused on improving the health of their organizations and some are developing programs that embrace more of their community. For example, parish nurses are giving children their immunizations and conducting public health sessions. Different denominations are grouping together to become more effective in the public health area.

On the road to prevention
Article Abstract:
Clinical practice guidelines for physicians are useful, but there are limitations to their effectiveness. There are so many agencies, companies and organizations issuing guidelines that physicians are overwhelmed by all the information, and many do not have tome to read all of them. The American Medical Assn found that over 80% of physicians that it had mailed a set of guidelines to did not read the information. The results of guideline use are also difficult to document, and without evidence, preventative services to patients without symptoms are often not given.

Health agencies pursue partnerships with 'bottom-line' medicine
