Oregon doctors drop neutrality, oppose law on assisted suicide
Article Abstract:
Members of the Oregon Medical Association have now voted to oppose a 1994 state law which allows physician-assisted suicide. The law was approved by voters but passed by a narrow margin, and many analysts believe the Oregon association's neutral stance on the issue at the time contributed to voter support. A new bill may bring the issue to another vote because legal challenges have block its implementation, so the Oregon association has announced its opposition.

Minn. doctors against anecephalic organ donations
Article Abstract:
The Minnesota Medical Assn opposes the American Medical Assn (AMA) opinion allowing the donation of the organs of anencephalic infants. The state medical association considers the children to be living beings while the AMA would like the 'dead donor' legislation changed. This case is one of the few where a state medical association has decided to differ from the national organization in its opinion about an issue.
