These doctors take a global view at AMA meeting
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association annual meeting in summer 1996 attracted more than a dozen physicians from other countries, including Anders Milton, a leader of the World Medical Association (WMA). Foreign doctors face some of the same issues that US physicians do, such as doctor-assisted suicide and the difficulty of financing health care. The WMA also helps doctors and medical groups in repressive countries. In Peru, the WMA helped win the release of 22 physicians who were jailed for political reasons.
