Rationing, queues, and black markets
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine rationing and queueing mechanisms under general equilibrium conditions. The study assumes that consumer demand is conditioned by gross substitutability and normality factors. Results show that low income earners lose when a market system transfer from rationing to queues is in process. Black markets further worsen losing conditions for these people, while high income earners gain.
