Palliative care for people with end-stage non-malignant lung disease
Article Abstract:
Progressive non-malignant lung disease (PNMLD) is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in the UK and patients with PNMLD are increasing in high numbers where their access to specialist services is highly variable across in the UK. Results indicate that in 1999, chronic lung disease including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), tuberculosis, pulmonary circulatory disease, pneumonoconiosis and cystic fibrosis killed almost 39,000.

Supporting vulnerable women during pregnancy
Article Abstract:
The article analyzes the setting up of a service to support vulnerable women during pregnancy, especially those who misuse drugs and alcohol from pregnancy till after the baby is born. The vulnerable in pregnancy (VIP) project and the role of midwives are discussed.
