Article Abstract:
The Association of Nurses in Substance Abuse is concerned that nurses may be reluctant to address the issue of addiction due to the aggressive image of some substance abusers. It has produced guidelines for nurses working in A&E to ensure good clinical practice. Many staff fear they will get a violent or abusive reaction so are reluctant to tackle patients about possible substance abuse.
