Attention is focused on the issues like development of leg ulcer services in the community, the importance of taking a holistic approach and the value of patient education to promote concordance. Developing the correct regimen requires involvement from patients in terms of offering choices that meet their clinical quality-of-life and psychosocial needs.

Leg ulcer assessment techniques in a remote rural area

The assessment processes and referral of patients with leg ulcers who live in a remote rural area are discussed. The purchase of a portable vascular laboratory has enabled non-invasive venous and arterial investigations to be performed outside a specialist unit, with an established link for expert vascular advice.

Caring for a patient with malodorous leg ulcers
Article Abstract:
Patients with leg ulceration who experience symptoms of pain and malodor can become isolated and suffer psychological problems. Experience of a patient who suffered from these problems is described to identify the importance of patient involvement in planning care.
