Physicians seek right to balance-bill under Medicare
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association (AMA) is arguing on the issue of physicians being allowed to bill Medicare recipients the difference between reimbursement rates and the actual cost of the services with reference to the balance-billing resolution passed in December 2002. While there is staff opposing the proposal, the supporters feel that physicians are private business people and hence should have the right to charge as they see fit for their services.
