Cytoadhesion of 'Plasmodium falciparum' ring-stage-infected erythrocytes
Article Abstract:
This article discusses a specific adhesion of mature-stage-infected erythrocytes (IE) to endothelial cell lines from the brain and lung and to placental syncytiotrophoblasts. The authors maintain that adhesion to an individual endothelial cell can occur throughout the blood-stage cycle, which can indicate noncirculating parasite subpopulations in malaria patients.
